Customize

What it is

Customize is where you shape Claude’s toolbox. It holds three things: Skills — packaged instructions for doing a particular job well; Connectors — the links out to Gmail, Calendar, Notion and the rest; and Plugins — bundles that install a whole working setup in one go.

If Claude is missing a skill, can’t see your calendar, or you want a ready-made kit for finance or design work, this is where you go.

Where to find it

On desktop

Sidebar → Customize. It opens a full page at claude.ai/customize/skills/discover — the Skills tab, showing the directory.
The same three managers also appear inside Settings, under the rail’s Customize group.

On the web

claude.ai/customize, which redirects to /customize/skills/discover.

How to use it

The page has two rows of tabs. The first picks what you’re looking at — Skills, Connectors, Plugins. The second picks the view — Yours for what you’ve installed, Discover for the directory. Search, filter and sort sit on the right, next to an Add button whose menu changes with the tab.

Add a skill

Customize → Skills → Discover and browse, or search.
Use Add on a tile to install it, or the Add button top-right to upload one of your own.
It appears under Yours, and Claude will reach for it when the situation matches.

Connect a service

Customize → Connectors. This tab has its own layout: Yours / Discover, search, Filter and Add connector controls.
Pick a service from the grid and choose Connect.
Authorise it — usually OAuth, sometimes an API key.
Add custom connector points Claude at your own remote MCP server instead.

Install a plugin

Customize → Plugins → Discover.
Install the bundle you want. Its skills and connectors land in the other two tabs automatically.

Good to know

Skills and Plugins share one Discover directory. /customize/skills/discover and /customize/plugins/discover show the same catalogue of packs. Connectors has its own, at /customize/connectors/directory.
Customize is now the only home for connectors. On the web, the old claude.ai/settings/connectors page is a stub reading “Connectors have moved to Customize”, with a link across. Settings → Capabilities says the same about skills: “Skills have moved to Customize.”
Two renderings, same managers. Opened from the sidebar you get the full page with Yours / Discover tabs; opened from the settings rail you get the same manager inside the overlay, where the first tab is spelled Your skills, Your connectors or Your plugins.
The inspected Discover view has a curated carousel and Top connectors. Recommendations and connected-state indicators depend on the account.
Styles aren’t here. They are not a Customize tab, and there is no Use style item in the composer’s + menu on either platform.

What’s changed recently

2026-10-07 — Both platforms open the three Customize tabs with Yours/Discover controls. Connectors Discover now shows a curated carousel, Top connectors, Filter and Add connector.
2026-09-13 — Customize is a full page again on both platforms, not a pane of the settings dialog, and it lands on /customize/skills/discover. The tab model is now two rows — Skills | Connectors | Plugins, then Yours | Discover — and the directory is the Discover tab rather than something you open from a + button. Skills and Plugins share one directory; Connectors has its own, with a status filter and a role selector. Removed the “styles” flow: there is no Styles tab and no Use style item in the composer’s + menu. Removed the “three-column layout” and “agentic defaults” descriptions — neither appears on the page today.
2026-06-18 — Re-verified /customize. The directory now surfaces an explicit Add plugin action alongside Skills and Connectors — the page is becoming the single home for skills, connectors, and plugins.
2026-04-30 — Re-verified /customize, /customize/skills, and /customize/connectors. Source URLs for Use connectors… and Agent Skills updated to follow Anthropic’s renames.
