Claude Mobile

What it is

Claude on your phone. The iOS and Android apps give you chat, dictation, voice mode, photo capture, and home-screen widgets — plus hooks into your device’s system apps, so Claude can draft a message, add a calendar event, set an alarm, or read your health data without copy-paste.

Mobile is its own surface. It isn’t covered by this site’s desktop or web pages; this page collects the essentials.

Where to find it

iOS

App Store — search “Claude by Anthropic”, or install from the App Store listing and tap Get.
Requires iOS 18.0 or iPadOS 18.0 and above. Enterprise organizations using Microsoft Intune may require Claude for Intune instead of the standard app; follow your IT team’s instructions.

Android

Play Store — search “Claude by Anthropic”, or install from the Play Store listing and select Install.
Requires Android 8.0 Oreo and above.

If you can’t find the app, you may be in a region Anthropic doesn’t support yet, on an incompatible device, or on an older OS version.

How to use it

iOS: intents, Shortcuts, widgets, and controls

Ask Claude intent — reachable from Spotlight, Siri, the Share menu, and any app that supports iOS intents. It also works as a Shortcuts building block, so you can chain it with other actions. Messages sent this way count towards your usage limit.
Home-screen widget — buttons for a new chat, dictation, and the camera. Touch and hold the Home Screen → Edit → Add Widget → search Claude → Add Widget → Done. The same widget appears in Today View.
Analyze Photo with Claude — add it to Control Center (Add button → Add a Control) or to the Lock Screen (touch and hold → Customize) to send an image to Claude quickly.

Home-screen widget — hold an empty area of the home screen → Widgets → Claude, then drag and resize. Three buttons: chat, camera, and microphone. Widget interactions count towards your usage limit.

What Claude can do with your apps

On both platforms Claude can draft and send messages through your default or a third-party app (WhatsApp, Slack, Messenger), compose emails with the subject and body pre-filled, check your availability and create calendar events, and show locations and directions on Maps. Claude creates new content — it can’t read your existing contacts, messages, or emails.

iOS only — Reminders: Claude can create and manage reminders and add items to existing lists, though it can’t create or edit the lists themselves.
Android only — Clock: Claude can set alarms and timers directly.
Health and fitness (beta) — Claude can read, but never write, activity, workouts, vitals, body measurements, sleep, and nutrition data. Pro and Max plans, US only; on iOS through Apple Health, on Android through Health Connect, which additionally requires Android 14 or later.

Dictation

Open a chat and tap the microphone icon in the input field.
Pick your language the first time.
Speak — your transcribed prompt appears in the composer.
Tap the arrow to send, or the X to cancel without sending.

English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian are supported; the non-English languages are in beta. Change the language under your initials (upper right) → Speech Input Language.

Voice mode

Open a chat and tap the voice icon next to the microphone.
Pick a voice.
Speak. Claude listens, replies out loud, and keeps context when you switch back to text.

Two interaction styles: hands-free, where Claude responds to natural pauses, and push-to-talk, which is more reliable in noisy places. See voice mode for the full picture.

Good to know

Sign-up and billing go through the app stores. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a paid subscription — cancel it in your App Store or Play Store account settings.
Everything on mobile counts toward your usage limit, including widget taps, “Ask Claude” intent calls, Shortcuts actions, and voice-mode turns.
Audio is deleted after transcription. Dictation recordings aren’t retained or used to train models.
Location is off-limits for Team and Enterprise members. The location tool isn’t available to them on either platform.
Permissions are per-feature. Messages and email need no permission because they go through the system’s own share sheets; location, calendar, reminders, and health each prompt separately.
Voice mode transcripts are saved to your chat history like any other conversation. It’s in beta on all plans. In the unified experience it also works during tasks; separate Cowork and Claude Code support dictation, not voice mode.

What’s changed recently

2026-09-13 — Re-read against all eight help-centre articles. iOS now requires iOS or iPadOS 18.0 (we had 17.0). On Android, Claude sets alarms and timers directly — we previously said that only worked inside voice mode, which the article no longer supports. Two restrictions we’d missed: the location tool is unavailable to Team and Enterprise members, and Claude can’t read your existing contacts, messages, or emails — it only creates new content. Voice mode is documented as available on mobile, desktop, and web in many languages, not mobile-and-English-only as we had it, and it’s incompatible with Cowork and Claude Code.
