Claude Mobile

Claude's iOS and Android apps — install, sign-in, widgets, dictation, and voice mode.

Available on

What it is

Claude on your phone. The iOS and Android apps give you chat, dictation, voice mode, photo capture, and home-screen widgets — plus deep hooks into your device’s system apps so Claude can draft a message, add a calendar event, set an alarm, or surface health data without copy-paste.

Mobile is its own surface. It’s not covered by this site’s desktop or web pages; this page collects the essentials.

Where to find it

iOS

  • App Store — search “Claude by Anthropic” or install directly from the App Store listing.
  • Requires iOS 17.0 or later.

Android

  • Play Store — search “Claude by Anthropic” or install directly from the Play Store listing.
  • Widget requires Android 8.0 Oreo or later.

How to use it

iOS: handoffs, widgets, and controls

  • Ask Claude intent — use from Spotlight, Siri, or the Share menu. Works standalone or as a Shortcuts building block.
  • Home-screen widget — buttons for new chat, dictation, and camera. Touch and hold an empty area → Edit → Add Widget → Claude.
  • Analyze Photo with Claude — add to Control Center or Lock Screen to send images to Claude without unlocking.
  • System-app actions — Claude drafts messages (Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, Slack, Gmail), reads/writes calendar events, sets reminders, shows locations on Apple Maps, and (Pro/Max, US only) reads Apple Health data.

Android: widget, Health Connect, clock

  • Home-screen widget — long-press an empty area → Widgets → Claude. Buttons for chat, camera, and voice dictation.
  • System-app actions — Claude drafts messages/emails (including WhatsApp, Slack), reads/writes calendar events, sets alarms and timers via the Clock app, shows locations on Google Maps, and (Pro/Max, Android 14+, US only) reads Health Connect data.
  • Reminders are iOS-only. Setting alarms and timers works inside voice mode; most other system-app actions don’t.

Dictation

  1. Open a new chat.
  2. Tap the microphone icon in the input field.
  3. Speak. Your transcribed prompt appears in the composer.
  4. Tap the send arrow. Claude responds in text.

Available in English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Change language under initials menu → Speech Input Language.

Voice mode

  1. Open a chat.
  2. Tap the sound-wave icon next to the microphone.
  3. Pick a voice.
  4. Speak. Claude listens, replies out loud, and keeps context when you switch back to text.

Two modes: hands-free (default, for quiet rooms) and push-to-talk (for noisy ones). English only, beta, all plans. Change voice from in-call settings → voice and pace.

Good to know

  • Sign-up and billing via the app stores. If you subscribe in-app, uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription — manage it in App Store or Play Store account settings.
  • Everything on mobile counts toward your usage limit, including widget taps, “Ask Claude” intent calls, Shortcuts actions, and voice-mode turns.
  • Audio is deleted after transcription. Dictation audio isn’t retained or used for training.
  • Voice mode uses a fixed set of voices — no voice cloning. Transcripts are saved to your chat history like any other conversation.
  • Permissions are per-feature. Messages/email require no permission (they use system share sheets); location, calendar-read, reminders, and health each prompt separately. Manage in Settings → Claude (iOS) or Settings → Apps → Claude → Permissions (Android).
  • Health is beta, Pro/Max only, US only. iOS reads Apple Health; Android reads Health Connect (requires Android 14+).
